If you have noticed flattened and worn tooth surfaces, or if you are experiencing tension-related headaches, stiffness and pain in the jaw joint muscles, or even difficulty in chewing with limited opening of the jaws then you may be suffering from bruxism which is excessive clenching and grinding.
Clenching and grinding may occur during the day but more often at night where there is no conscious control over this undesirable habit that can wear away and weaken your teeth.
Night guards protect teeth from wearing down and reduce the need for expensive treatment that can result from tooth grinding. A custom-made night guard (also known as occlusal splint) repositions the jaw to prevent or reduce teeth grinding at night. It will be more comfortable to wear than those are bought off-the-shelf.
WE will provide a treatment plan which may include stress management, jaw muscle relaxation exercises, and/or the provision of a night guard.
